Customize the Finder toolbar
Keep the Finder actions you use most at the top of the window, so you do not have to look through menus every time.
Open the interactive guideFinder
Settings path
Finder › View › Customize Toolbar
Steps
- Open a Finder window.
- Look at the menu bar in the upper-left corner of the screen and confirm that “Finder” appears there.
- Click View in the menu bar, then click Customize Toolbar.
- In the panel that appears, drag frequently used items into the toolbar at the top of the Finder window. Drag items you do not need out of the toolbar.
- Close the panel, open a folder, and confirm that the actions you use most are available without making the toolbar crowded.
Before
The Finder toolbar keeps its default items, and actions you need may require a search through the menu bar.
After
The Finder toolbar keeps the items that fit your workflow and removes items you do not need.
Undo the change
Open View > Customize Toolbar again, drag out later additions you no longer need, and arrange the remaining items for your workflow.
